There’s a distinctly north Antrim feel to the roll call of Portrush Music Society’s cast for their forthcoming production of Evita.
For the 50 strong cast features a number of members from Ballymoney, Ballycastle and Bushmills.
Among the cast are Ballymoney men Paul Loan, Robert Adams and Andy Shaw.
Paul has played lead roles with the Society before including Julian Marsh in 42nd Street and Charles Neville in Titanic. Andy is a relative newcomer to the Society but wowed audiences in last year’s Sister Act as the hilarious Latino gangster Pablo.
Robert will be well known to local audiences for his parts in Coleraine pantomime.
Another newcomer is Bushmills man Stevie Black who is joined on stage by long-time member Ballycastle man Angus Iliff.
Ballymoney mother and daughter team Edel and Niamh Devlin also appear in Evita, following on from their appearances in last year’s sell-out, award-winning show Sister Act.
Evita opens in Coleraine’s Riverside Theatre on Friday 24th April and runs until Saturday 2nd May with matinees on both Saturdays.
This musical, Evita, tells the story of the inspiration Eva Peron who hailed from humble beginnings to become heralded as the spiritual leader of the nation, bringing with it extraordinary wealth, power and status - resulting in her ultimate rise to sainthood and her eventual death.
Portrush Music Society are delighted to have been granted the rights to this amazing musical which features some of the best known and loved inspiring stage songs in musical theatre – including ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’, ‘Oh What a Circus’ and ‘Another Suitcase in Another Hall’ to name but a few. The musical employs an eclectic range of music styles from classical, rhythmic latinate right through to rock music.
