Ballymoney man Alexander Louden and his 1939 MG TB have made the final of the 10th Meguiars Club Showcase; a nationwide competition to find the UK’s most perfect classic cars.
Alexander is one of fourteen finalists whose cars will be shown at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at Birmingham’s NEC from 13th to 15th November where the overall winner will be announced by Mike Brewer of Discovery Channel’s Wheeler Dealers on Sunday afternoon.
The 2015 Meguiar’s Club Showcase will feature the crème de la crème of the classic car scene.
These cars have all been selected as previous show winners, chosen for their immaculate presentation and condition.
There are a range of marques, eras and styles represented, spanning pre-war through to modern classics.
Alex explains: “It’s the only one in Northern Ireland as far as I know; they only made 379 and mine’s number 338.”
Alexander has owned the car 22 years; buying it at the same time as a TA and a TD.
He added: “It’s been fully restored; I did most of the work myself between 1993 and 1997 and it must be one of the best left in the world. It’s been worth all the work I put into it during those four years!”
Over the past 22 years, it’s won eight separate trophies. “Most have been second or third in class, though my TA has won before.
“I feel brilliant to have got this far, and I can only imagine how I’ll feel if I win the Showcase too.”
The 2015 Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show will be held from 13th to 15th November at Birmingham’s NEC.
