For the recent meeting of Macartney’s True Blues LOL 913 was a special occasion for W. Bro. James Murphy BEM as he has reached SEVENTY years of membership of the lodge.

In the Spring of 1945, just after the cessation of the Second World War, Bro Murphy joined the Lodge. His first parade was July 12th 1945 in Bushmills so it is fitting that this year’s North Antrim parade on July 12th is again in Bushmills.

Most Worshipful Bro Robert Salters presented the gift, saying that in all his time as Grand Master he had presented many 50 and 60 year jewels but never in his memory had he presented a 70 years medal.

He said it was his honour and privilege to be in Lavin for the event and said that James was a great servant to the Lodge.

Bro James conveyed thanks to the Lodge for the beautiful gift and said it was his great pleasure and delight to have the Grand Master attend.
