70 kids in court

SEVENTY children faced prosecution in Londonderry at the end of last month, it has been revealed.

Incredibly, the sum total of juveniles in the Court System across Northern Ireland was 1,018.

Justice Minister David Ford revealed the data in response to an Assembly Question.

He stated: “As of March 26, 2012 1,018 cases involving 1,022 youth defendants were in the court system.”
