2k in housing stress

ALMOST 3,000 people are in housing need in Londonderry with close to 2,000 deemed to be in housing stress, according to the latest figures held by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE).

A total of 1,765 were in housing stress and a further 1,228 in housing need at the end of March last year.

Housing Minister Nelson McCausland outlined the figures in response to an Assembly Question.

“In respect of meeting that need, the Social Housing Development Programme for the next 3 years has just recently been submitted to me and I am now considering it,” he stated. “We will publish the final programme once it has been formally approved.”
