Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced a £2 million funding package for the development of additional Park & Ride facilities. These include over 200 additional Park & Ride spaces in Ballymoney, Cullybackey and Whiteabbey.
Danny Kennedy said: “There is a growing demand for Park and Ride facilities as an increasing number of people choose public transport for their daily commute to work and for leisure purposes.
“The popularity of public transport reflects the success brought about by my Department’s investment in our bus and train services over recent years and it demonstrates my ongoing commitment to encourage sustainable travel.
“During the last 2 years over 1,300 new Park & Ride spaces have been created, bringing the total number of Park & Ride spaces to over 7,600. Included in the Park & Ride planned projects for 2015 are the creation of a new rail based 110 space facility in Cullybackey; 49 additional spaces at Whiteabbey; and 46 spaces in Ballymoney.”
