Up to 140 workers ‘sent home’

Textile firm staff ‘sent home without notice’ says union

Up to 140 workers at a textile recycling factory in Cloughmills near Ballymena were sent home last week without notice, a trade union has said.

SIPTU said management at All-Tex Recyclers told staff they were to go home, following an inspection by the Northern Ireland Health and Safety Executive (HSENI) on Thursday.

There has been no comment from the company or the HSENI so far.

The union said it is seeking an urgent meeting with the company’s management.
