Raising the bar with the world’s first gin distillery at sea, Anderson’s Bar and Library on board Iona will be serving expertly crafted Marabelle Gin cocktails, made with gin produced in the ship’s very own still, Columba.

Created in partnership with Salcombe Distilling Co, the unique tipple - inspired by the terroir of the Scottish island which is Iona’s namesake - infuses 18 botanicals including heather, citrus, green apple, blackberry, rose petals, mint and sea kelp to create a palate pleasing gin with a subtle hint of the sea.

Available bottled and labelled for guests to purchase, take home and enjoy, following its launch on Iona, P&O Cruises Marabelle Gin will be distilled in Salcombe and served across the entire P&O fleet, with more exclusive destination-inspired gins to follow.

P&O Cruises’ president, Paul Ludlow, said: The world’s first gin distillery at sea will be one of the stand-out attractions on our new ship. Marabelle means star of the sea so this is a perfectly apt name for our unique-recipe gin created on board Iona, a ship set to make sea the star.”

Embarking on her maiden voyage early next year, Iona features a breathtaking three deck atrium and another world first at sea in the form of SkyDome, a revolutionary glass dome providing a unique all-weather space for relaxing, entertainment and star-studded live acts.

Guests can also bring to life their own gin-spirations in two exciting on board masterclasses. In the first, a gin expert will reveal the secrets of distilling a smooth, well-balanced gin, complete with tutored testing, whilst the second allows guests to create their own recipe gin to take home and savour.
