The Big Arts Weekend in Cushendun is back!

Time to get excited - The Big Arts Weekend in Cushendun is back with a bang!

Tuesday, 13th April 2021, 2:53 pm

The organisers have a terrific line-up of theatre, music, talks, kids’ entertainment and fun in a largely virtual festival from April 30 to May 3.

“While this is not our preferred way to run a festival - we miss the audiences and the buzz - adapting to an online offering has also opened up new opportunities for our programming. All of our ‘indoor’ events will be available online, and we are delighted to be able to offer content from the USA and London as well as from our own home-grown talent pool,” said the organisers.

“We will still be able to offer some ‘outdoor’ COVID-compliant programming including the Village Walk and the always popular sandcastle competition.

“We have a beautiful carriage on exhibition outside the Old Church Centre all weekend, thanks to Newtowncrommlin Carriages and we welcome the ever-popular Cushendun Amateur Artists exhibition and sale inside the Old Church, following all the regulations in place at the time.

“We are thrilled to be screening Sam McCready’s play ‘Coole Lady’ directly from the United States, performed by renowned actress Joan McCready, in her portrayal of Lady Gregory. We are delighted to be screening the premiere of ‘The Wit and Wisdom of Mi Muther’ written, produced and performed by a new(ish) resident to Cushendun, actress and writer Julie Kinsella. For the kids and the whole family we have interactive musical fun with Kyle Riley and the hilarious magician, Steve Price.” Go to www.theoldchurchcentre.com for tickets.
