The Atlantic Bar is Yankee doodle dandy!

The fun kicks off on Thursday night with the venue’s ‘Funkin Thursdays’.

Friday and Saturday night sees exclusive appearances by well-known American artists.

On Friday night ‘Hillfolk Noir’ take to the stage. They are a traditional band fronted by singer/songwriter Travis Ward. A trio of neo-traditionalists they play traditional music on traditional instruments for non-traditional times.

They call it Junkerdash, and it’s a sound brewed from folk, bluegrass, punk, string-band blues and other influences musical and otherwise.

Saturday night sees Daniel Payne playing an exclusive set at the Main Street venue.

Daniel is no stranger to the life of musical gypsyhood.

His exploits of rambling and relentless touring stretch across the globe. In between his friendly smiles and down-home West Texas “hi you all,” Payne howls and mourns his savage tales of dust storms, spurned lovers, and the mythical high plains cowboy.

His first full-length release, “In The Fertile Gardens of Freedom” debuted out of Fort Worth, TX in early 2010 and was nominated for several awards in the Texas music scene.

A U.S. tour followed, and he was on the national map.

Payne enjoyed most of 2011 touring in the US and Europe with Bob Wayne and his “Outlaw Carnies” while writing his own next album “Ancient Tones” which would be recorded by Andy Gibson in Nashville and released in January 2012.

The record, captured in the traditional bluegrass style alongside Andy Gibson and Daniel Mason (both of Hank III), Chris Scruggs (BR-549), and fiddle prodigy Billy Contreras (George Jones) shocked critics with its plainspoken honesty, hard-living brutality and peerless musicianship.

Sometimes touring solo like a lonesome drifter and at other times with a full band Payne continues to shine while taking his two hour live show to fans in the United States and Europe and has earned himself a name the old fashioned way on the road.

“I’m already writing the next one,” Payne said with a knowing smile. “Every day when I wake up I am grateful for what I have, and for everyone I have met. I’m living each day to the fullest because tomorrow’s never sure.”
