Slimming World eating plan
given a New Year makeover

According to NHS Choices around seven million of us will make a New Year’s resolution to improve our health after overindulging at Christmas and losing weight is top of our list, above giving up smoking, getting fit and drinking less alcohol.

Luckily for anyone looking to lose weight in 2015, Slimming World has streamlined its Extra Easy plan and a local Slimming World consultant says this means slimmers will be able to achieve their New Year resolution with ease.

Donna Conlan, who runs the Templepatrick Slimming World group at Templepatrick Primary School, is excited about the changes.

She said: “Like many of our members, our Extra Easy eating plan has had a makeover for 2015 and is looking better than ever.

“It’s now simpler to follow and members will find it even easier to get off to a great start with their weight loss.”

For decades Slimming World’s Food Optimising programme has shown members that it’s possible to lose weight without being on a restrictive and faddy diet and to satisfy their appetite with healthy foods without counting, weighing or measuring everything you eat.

Instead, slimmers are encouraged fill up on everyday foods – which Slimming World calls ‘Free Foods’ – like fruit and veg, pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat and fish, which are filling yet naturally low in calories.

This year Slimming World has used the latest research to identify the foods are the lowest in energy density, so they’ll really help to speed up weight loss – mostly vegetables and fruit – and those which are the most satisfying and filling – mostly protein and fibre-rich foods.

Donna added: “By following our streamlined Extra Easy plan members are guaranteed to power up their weight loss and see some great results on the scales.

“We also know that getting support to overcome those tricky moments when you’re trying to break old habits and stick to new ones is crucial.

“Everyone will be sure of a warm welcome at Slimming World and each week members will pick up new recipes, ideas and get advice to help them make healthy changes and get into a new lifestyle groove.”
