Local studio hosts the world premiere of art installation

DERRIAGHY’S Studio 23 will be hosting a special event next week when Liam de Frinse presents the world premiere of his latest art video installation.

‘s23 Complex’ is a brand new digital art video installation that combines computer graphics, video, natural and sonic soundscapes.

Liam is a local international multimedia artist whose last laser light installation graced the skies above Vancouver during the winter Olympics.

Since returning from his Swiss studio he has been concentrating on his latest digital art video installation.

Already Liam has shown a primer prior to his current work to an enthusiastic audience from the Lisburn area at the last successful event held by Studio 23.

Studio 23 was established by artist Mo McDevitt, who was determined to set up facilities that addressed the needs of newly graduated arts students in what had been the Delorean factory’s apprentice training area.

There are now fourteen individual studios, various workshops, a special room for washing and cleaning brushes, spaces for dance, performance, music, film, photography, ceramics and a large bright room for all the various projects Mo dreams up.

Liam’s installation will be launched at Studio 23 on March 16. The event will include performances by the Zion Writers Group, as well as ADF writer Bill McKnight, US writer Ward and local author Lynda Tavakoli. Mo will also be reading from her latest work ‘Cats and Other Beings’.

Refreshments will be served and a selection of books will also be for sale on the night.

The event begins at 7pm and anyone who would like to attend is asked to email [email protected] to book a place. There will be a voluntary door charge of £5, which will include supper and a ticket for the prize draw.
