Ballymoney Borough Council has just released its new Events.etc brochure which gives details of arts and cultural events taking place in Ballymoney Town Hall from now until Christmas.
Organised by Ballymoney Borough Arts Committee and the Council’s Cultural Services, the programme features a number of excellent music events beginning with the amazing singer/songwriter Juliet Turner (right) on 1 November followed on 8 November by the Ronnie Greer Blues Band who promise a great night of “blues, roots and a little jazz music, played by the best in the business”. On 6 December the wonderful Eilidh Patterson makes a welcome return to the Town Hall for an intimate solo show and finally we round off 2012 in style on 12 December with the Rick Swann Dixieland Allstars and A Dixieland Christmas.
Local historian S Alex Blair’s new series of talks 2012: A Year of Centenaries, begins on Thursday 20 September. The first two talks look at The Ulster Covenant and Ulster Day, with the first giving an overview and the second looking at the local level and the final talk looks at Kennedy Kane McArthur and his Olympic Marathon Victory of 1912.
There are a number of excellent exhibitions in the Museum over the coming months beginning with Dalriada School – 75 Years in St James’s Road in October. The 26th Annual Art Exhibition will be on display along with the Ulster Woodturners Exhibition in November and will be followed by the Northern Ireland Photographic Association’s Annual Print Exhibition in December.
A new series of courses and workshops for adults gets up and running this month so if you feel like trying your hand at calligraphy, creative writing, painting or patchwork, enrolment takes place on 11 September. There are also drama and dance courses for 5-7 year olds and 8-11 year olds.
Of course, the programme wouldn’t be complete without the traditional Christmas panto and this year The Panto Company make a welcome return with the popular children’s classic, Dick Whittington. There are shows for primary schools on Tuesday 27 & Wednesday 28 November at 10am with family shows both evenings at 7.30pm.
Further details of all these events are in the new brochure. Copies are available from Tourist Information, Ballymoney Town Hall 028 2766 0230 or can be downloaded from the Ballymoney Borough Council website www.ballymoney.gov.uk
