The incident occurred on November 18 but the next day a temporary replacement water plan was installed, which was capable of supplying four of the six washers.

According to the minute of a recent meeting of the Western Trust Board: “On November 24 following required laboratory water tests, it was confirmed that this temporary plan was safe to use and therefore four endoscopy washers were therefore in operation since November 25.”

Referring to the incident, the Trust Chief Executive Elaine Way praised staff from various departments who worked “tirelessly to get the service up and running and worked over the weekend so that patients’ appointments could be rescheduled without significant delay.”
