£1.5m investment creates 20 new jobs in Ballyclare

The Hamilton family, who first established a nursing home in the town in 1987, have modernised and significantly expanded their facility with the support of the bank.

Hamilton Private Nursing Home has been completely refurbished and modernised with the addition of a purpose-built extension. It’s understood the investment has helped to create 20 new jobs at the Ballycorr Road facility.

New facilities include luxury en-suite bedrooms, lounges with rural views, a riverside café and hairdressing salon.

Heather Hamilton said: “Such has been the scope of the renovations that we have effectively created a new-build facility. We have worked closely with Ulster Bank to be able to create a modern home which can continue to provide high quality care to local people. Already, we have had a very positive response from all visitors, including those from the caring professions.”

Nigel Walsh, Director, Commercial Banking NI, Ulster Bank, added: “The health and care sector is an important priority for Ulster Bank, and we have significant funds available this year to lend to the industry. The Hamiltons are long-standing clients with a quality business, and we are pleased to support them with this important investment.”

The new-look home was designed by Blackstaff Architects and built by DJR Contracts. TA Electric and RC Plumbing and Heating provided the mechanical and electrical services.

Welcoming the new jobs, Mayor Thomas Hogg commented: “I am delighted with the recent announcement of 20 new jobs within Antrim and Newtownabbey. This is fantastic news for the borough, following the recent job announcements at Belfast International Airport.

“I hope the number of job opportunities continues to grow so we can work towards reducing unemployment levels within the borough.”
