Formed back in 1966 by trumpeter George Chambers, the band is arguably Ireland’s longest established and most successful traditional jazz outfit.

Steeped in the New Orleans tradition, the Apex has a repertoire that includes material from Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton, Kid Ory and many more.

Marches, spirituals, rags, blues, stomps and pop tunes from the jazz age are all presented in a balanced and entertaining programme that has made the Apex one of the most sought-after and acclaimed jazz bands in the UK.

The band has played at a host of venues and festivals over the years, including shows throughout England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, Holland, Germany and the US.
