Major refurbishment for Marine Hotel
The Marine Hotel in Ballycastle has announced plans for phase one of the hotel’s refurbishment which began on January 5th.
Included in the refurbishment are half of the hotel’s bedrooms, which will receive new soft furnishings, furniture, and new bathrooms. All corridors and stairwells leading to the bedrooms are also included in the plans.
The restaurant will also receive a makeover which will coincide with the launch of the hotel’s new family friendly restaurant. Full details of this will be announced at later date.
Marconi’s Bistro is also to undergo some changes to furniture and fixtures.
The investment by the owners in the refurbishment shows the commitment and confidence that they have in the hotel and the area.
Owners Colum Mclornan and Claire Hunter celebrated the hotel’s first anniversary during the summer. Their continued investment in the hotel secures employment and ensures the town’s ability to host local weddings and events, to encourage visitors to stop over in Ballycastle and help the local economy.
Hotel General Manager Michael Yates has also announced details of an upgade to the hotel’s heating system which will reduce its carbon footprint and become an all-round greener hotel.
Michael highlighted a recent promotion run by the Marine which brought over 900 extra visitors to Ballycastle in November - a normally quiet period for the town and the hotel.
The management of the hotel are extremely proud of the fact that only local suppliers and tradesmen are being used during the refurbishment.
The hotel will have restricted opening hours 8am to 6pm daily until 8th February when the hotel will re-open fully to host a two day conference.
Michael and his team would be delighted to show anyone around the Marine Hotel during the works so they can see the continued improvements.
