Join Grimes and McKee at the Errigle for their 'Christmas Do'

FOLLOWING the sell-out run of their self penned comedy, Christmas Jumpers, which played at The Errigle Inn in Christmas 2008, the decidedly funny double act return to premiere a brand new show entitled Grimes & McKee's Christmas Do, which will run at the Ormeau Road pub from Tuesday 14 December to Saturday January 1, 2011.

Previous festive periods have seen the duo toiling at the comedy coalface with hit shows like The Nativity...What the Donkey Saw, Bah Humbug, and Howl. But because they're always working at Christmas they've never had a Christmas do. Well this year's going to be different and, because there are only two of them, everybody's invited.

But they're new to this. How many cocktail sausages do you need for two hundred guests, plus Grimes? Can McKee photocopy his bum without breaking it? - the photocopier that is. Is it acceptable to serve revellers mulled Bucky in a plastic glass? These questions and many more won't be answered at this night of sketches, songs and dance...yes dance.

Conor Grimes & Alan McKee are largely known for their hugely successful Tractor Show and The History of the Troubles...Accordin' to my Da. Both have recently wowed audiences in their respective solo ventures. Conor comes fresh from a record breaking run of Dancing Shoes-The George Best Story at the Grand Opera House, where his portrayal of Harry Gregg was received with great critical acclaim and standing ovations at every performance. While Alan has just finished a successful stint as a homicidal badger in the world premiere of Colin Bateman's National Anthem.

The director or "designated driver" for Grimes & McKee's Christmas Do is regular collaborator Frankie McCafferty.

Another well known and much loved stalwart in the Belfast entertainment scene is The Errigle Inn where the show is to be presented for an extended twenty show run. The bar offers the perfect backdrop to this year's must see Christmas show, offering a warm and relaxed environment perfect for regular theatre goers and work-do revellers alike.

"Conor and I have never really had a 'Christmas do' because there's just the two of us and it would be a bit sad and pathetic," said Alan. "We thought we would have a 'Christmas do' and invite everyone along to join us. We will be doing all the things that usually happen at Christmas parties, although since neither of us have ever had a proper job in our lives it is all based on hearsay and rumour. We will have a bit of audience participation as well - so don't sit too close to the front.

"It is an alternative to panto," he continued, "not that we are knocking panto because as young actors we were glad of it.

"There is a lot of doom and gloom about at the minute but it is still Christmas and we have to have a bit of a laugh."
