Broughshane WI celebration

Members and guests were welcomed to the Broughshane WI Christmas Party by President, Martha Wilson.

It was reported that Sophia Maybin, a very talented and experienced member of Committee, had been nominated for the role of a Slemish Area Executive to take over from Ethel Simpson.

Congratulations were extended to Mary Knox on gaining a 3rd for the “Spirit of Christmas” event held at Tullyglass. The monthly magazine winner was Marlene Adams.

Grace was said by Vice President Fiona Marshall and the team from Iris’s Farmhouse Cuisine were congratulated on their superb meal and excellent service.

For the first time, the Christmas cake was baked by Sophia Maybin and as Sally Arthur had baked it for the past 27 years both ladies were invited to cut it.A special visit from Santa and Mrs Claus added that Christmas sparkle not to mention the lovely mulled wine. From quizzes, dingbats, name that song, raffle, find your other half and prizes galore– what a night – thanks to May Adams, Ann McMaster and Ann Maybin.

The President also thanked Sally McBurney and Janet Gaston for ‘party planning’. A token gift was presented to Elizabeth Patterson for her musical commitment to the Institute each month.
