Ballycastle’s Got Talent

Forget, Britain’s Got Talent, Ballycastle’s Got Talent and at the Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival 2014 sponsored by The Northern Ireland Tourist Board they are looking for talented groups and individuals of all ages to enter the Street Entertainer Competition.

Taking place on Saturday 24th May 2014 at the Ballycastle Seafront and Marina area, the competition is open to all ages with cash prizes collectively worth £600 available in three sections, Junior – (11 years and under), Intermediate – (18 years and under) and Adult.

Whether you are a singer, a dancer or part of a flame throwing, stilt walking, interpretative dance troupe you are welcome to enter.

Competition entry is completely free and Caroline Carey, Tourism Development Officer for Moyle District Council said, “We are proud of the vibrant local arts scene with its long tradition in music, dance and drama. The Street Entertainer Competition is a perfect opportunity for the whole community to get involved.

“We want to encourage entertainers young and old from this area and further afield to just come and have a go in the competition. The Festival will have something for everyone in Ballycastle that weekend, so come on what are you waiting for, come to Ballycastle!”

Like any quality talent competition there will be a panel of judges, they are;

Cara McShane, Chair of Moyle Council, Elaine Gaston, Arts Officer, of Moyle Council and Paul Cochrane, President of Ballycastle Chamber of Commerce.

Paul a veteran of the local music scene for more than sixteen years said, “The Street Entertainer Competition at the Rathlin Sound Maritime Festival is one of the highlights of the festival and I am delighted to be a judge.

“I am really looking forward to seeing the diverse range of acts taking part in the competition and I am confident that we’ll have a fantastic afternoon of entertainment to look forward to on Saturday 24th May.”

The closing date for postal/email entries is Tuesday 20 May at 4pm. Late entries will be permitted in person on the day of the competition at Portnagree House, Bayview Road, Ballycastle between 11.30-12.30 only.
