Stephanie steps out for charity

Argos store managers from across Northern Ireland are celebrating this week after their 16-mile walk raised a fantastic £6,000 for their charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support.

The money raised by the managers – including Stephanie Eglen from Coleraine’s Riverside store – will fund 214 Macmillan nursing hours, helping to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.

What began as a simple team building exercise became something bigger when the team decided to create their own challenge and raise money for Macmillan along the way (See below). The team of 17 managers travelled the eight mile distance from Portrush to the Giant’s Causeway and back in one day, with three of the team adding to the difficulty by running the whole distance.

Stephen Kelly, regional manager for Argos in Northern Ireland, said: “It was a brilliant day with great weather, great views and great company with lots of team bonding taking place. The most important thing though is the fact that we raised £6,000, which is enough to fund over 200 hours of Macmillan nursing care. It’s fantastic to know we’ve made a difference to a great cause, and it means a lot to everyone in our branch. The challenge now is how to better this next time!”

Catriona Munn, senior partnership manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, added: “We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the walk and helped to raise an incredible £6,000, which will fund 214 hours of vital care from a Macmillan nurse.”
