The book includes a foreward by Lord Ashcroft KCMG PC, owner of the world’s largest collection of Victoria Cross medals, in which he expressed his admiration for Quigg V.C. and endorsed Leonard’s work: “Robert Quigg was a modest man from humble origins, yet he deserves his place amongst that rare breed of men who are entitled to be described as ‘the bravest of the brave’.

“I commend the author for his diligent research and I am sure that Sergeant Robert Quigg V.C. – A Bushmills Hero is a labour of love that will be enjoyed and cherished by all who read it.”

Leonard thanked everyone who had helped him to compile, research and write the book. The Robert Quigg VC Commemoration Society are currently fundraising for a sculpture of Quigg V.C. which will be unveiled on Tuesday 28 June. To date, almost £50,000 has been raised thanks to the wonderful generosity of the local public.
