Mrs Mollie Holmes OBE would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made her 100th birthday so memorable.
Ballymoney’s ‘First Freeman’ marked her 100th milestone with a weekend of celebrations including a party at the Lodge Hotel in Coleraine as well as a special service at St Patrick’s Church.
Speaking to the Times, Mollie said: “I would like to thank all the people who sent me greetings and good wishes for my birthday. I would also like to thank those who sent gifts, you are very naughty as I said ‘no gifts’ but they were all lovely presents I will treasure.
“I had a wonderful birthday weekend and again I would like to say my appreciation to those who came along to my party and to the special service - I hope they all had a lovely time like me.
“Special thanks also go to the Lodge Hotel for their great service as well as Alistair Coyles and my good friend John Watt for the tremendous entertainment - John, my song was delightful.
“Unfortunately some of the people couldn’t come to the party, so I’m hopefully going to have a few tea parties at my home. People say it’s too much but I have the invitations already done, I just need to write the people’s names and the date when I’m ready to party again!”
