Lush teams up with Ulster Orchestra for epic night

Arguably the island's most globally renowned club during the past two decades, Lush! is celebrating its 20th anniversary by teaming up with the Ulster Orchestra for an epic event at the Odyssey Arena.

What should be one of the parties of the year takes place on Saturday, October 15, and will featured the Ulster Orchestra playing 20 years of dance music classics alongside legendary DJs David Seaman, Steve Anderson, Col Hamilton, John Cecchini and Seb Fontaine.

The event follows last year’s highly acclaimed Radio 1 Ibiza Promo at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where Pete Tong, Jules Buckley and the Heritage Orchestra transformed 20 years of Ibiza dance classics into orchestral masterpieces with the help of John Newman and Ella Eyre.

The concept has also been popularised by renowned Manchester club Hacienda.

The purpose-built local club, boasting one of the best sound systems on the island, has won more international accolades in its lifetime than any other Irish venue.

The hotspot came into being after the huge success of the legendary Kelly’s rave in the early 90s.

Its resident DJ from day one has been Col Hamilton, whose son Junior J is emerging as one of the hottest young talents in Europe.

Lush! has attracted many of the world’s leading house, trance and progressive house DJs, such as Sasha, John Digweed, Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren and Pete Tong.

Col Hamilton from Lush told The Times: “This is a one off event not to be missed.

“A musical homage to 20 years of Northern Irish clubland.

“The show will feature a bespoke orchestral set of the biggest classic dance tracks from the club’s esteemed history curated by ‘Brothers In Rhythm’ alongside me, and special guest artists and DJs for what will truly be a night to remember.”
Col went on: “We wanted to do something thats never been done in Ireland before to celebrate 20 years of weekly clubbing.

“After watching the BBC Radio 1 Pete Tong Ibiza Proms last year I knew straight away that we had to do our own Lush! version.

“The reaction when we announced it was unreal.

“People have been booking hotels even before the tickets went on sale.

“Fingers crossed people will get behind us and support the event.”

The popular local DJ added: “If you like dance music and have ever had a night out in a club and want something different - then this is for you. It promises to be one of the biggest nights ever!”
