They take on this mammoth feat in loving memory of James Stewart, husband and father, who sadly died after a hard fought battle with cancer, in March 2002.

A year later Iris and the girls came upon the idea through the Official Cancer Research Page and have been feeding the local population in exchange for donations every year since.

Iris and her friends and family serve up a hearty breakfast and following this year’s 14th Big Breakfast Iris commented: “This year was the biggest yet. The chef cooked 176 frys and we had over 200 people through the doors for food. And thanks to their generousity and all the volunteers we raised an amazing £3,830.”

Little did Iris think that she would be going strong over a decade after the first Big Breakfast in 2003,

“When I did the first one I had aboslutely no idea that 14 years later I would still be holding my Big Breakfast.

“Now we have raised over £32,000 during the past 14 years which is absolutely brilliant. It’s being able to raise money like that each year that keeps me going.”

“We just clear out four rooms including the bedrooms and put all the stuff in the garage. Its hard work.

“Everyone is very generous and I’m very grateful for their support. Its such a worthy cause it makes it all worth while.”

Iris would like to everyone who helped in anyway to raise this staggering amount of money.

She added: “I’ll see you all next year!”
