Hat-trick for our John

A seventeen year old Dalriada pupil has won his third Ulster Solo Drumming tite.

John McLean from Greengage Cottages in Ballymoney scooped the coveted award during a contest in Lisburn earlier this month.

John, a member of the PSNI Pipes and Drums, was drumming in the U18 Juvenile section.

The competition was held in Lisnagarvey High School, Lisburn, on Saturday the 15th April.

John faced stiff competition including the current World Champion in his grade but came out on top.

John won his first Ulster title in 2009 in the U14 Drum Pad Section.

In 2013 he won the U16 Juvenile title and has now completed the hat trick with the U18 Juvenile title.

John is looking forward to the upcoming season with the band who are in a strong position in Grade 2 this year.

His next Solo outing will be the World Solos in Glasgow in October where he will be looking to take his third World Title.
