Game of Thrones breaks Emmy awards record

Game of Thrones has broken the record with the highest number of Emmy Awards won, on Sunday night.

The show triumphed in three categories.

Based on George RR Martin’s novels, Gane of Thrones has now scooped 38 Emmys, beating Frasier’s record of 37 to become the most-awarded narrative show in Emmy history.

Game of Thrones has been is filmed at various locations throughout Northern Ireland.

This year’s British winners included Dame Maggie Smith, who won outstanding supporting actress in a drama series for her role in Downton Abbey.
