Family fun with the Community Action

Cloughmills Community Action Team has again teamed up with the John Muir Trust to offer families an invaluable opportunity to spend time together this summer exploring some of the fantastic and often hidden natural gems on our doorstep.

Patrick Frew, Cloughmills Community Action Team explained: “We have used the John Muir Award to reach out to young people and based on our experiences at the Mill including our Free Range Families outdoor playgroup we are able to offer families the opportunity to engage in a series of activities based on the themes of ‘Discover, Explore, Conserve and Share’. You don’t need expensive equipment and it’s free! We have some great ideas to get you started and at the end you receive an accredited certificate.

The John Muir Award is a way of spending quality time together as a family without necessarily spending money. More online!

The challenges are simple and families can adapt them to suit their location and circumstances. Grandparents can get involved too, there really is something for everyone within the John Muir Award scheme. So, no more shouts of ‘I’m bored’ this summer, John Muir is here and the Causeway Coast and Glens is waiting to be explored!

John Muir was a Scottish naturalist and conservationist who devoted much of his life to exploring our natural environment and encouraging others to do so. The John Muir Award is a tribute to this work and an exciting way of reconnecting with the world around us.
