Crowds set to flock to the Red Sails Festival

All roads lead to Portstewart this week for the annual Red Sails Festival - provided by the Portstewart Community Association in conjunction with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, local businesses and volunteers.

The 2016 festival, which runs from July 24 to July 30, includes the usual feast of free entertainment for all ages. Full line up at redsails.co.uk

With huge crowds expected in the seaside town again this year - the event can boast over 60 acts, events and activities. The festival begins on Sunday, July 24 with the 2.00pm Interdenominational Service at the Crescent at 2pm. This will be followed by live music by ‘The Good News Rhythm and Blues - a group of musicians from around County Antrim and the North Coast who have come together through their love of Blues Rock, Soul and Rhythm and Blues music and their desire to share the ‘Good News’ of their faith.

Monday’s events include: Ladies Golf Competition at Portstewart Golf Club; on Monday afteroonm ‘Kitty of Coleraine’ will be on display at The Crescent. The yacht made famous by Jimmy Kennedy’s song “Red Sails In The Sunset”. Hugo Duncan will also be bringing his roadshow to town on Monday afternoon. Tuesday sees the annual 12 Noon children’s sandcastle competition (12 noon) at the Crescent. At 2.30, Mr. Hullabaloo’s Children’s Workshop (Primary School Age) will take place at Portstewart Town Hall. The evening includes live music by Darren Keiran and Ritchie Remo at the bandstand.
