A staggering £2,230 has been raised during a barbecue fundraising event at Garryduff Presbyterian Church Hall.

The event was part of ‘Go Uganda’ where a team of local volunteers are heading to the East African country to help the local community. Sandra Beattie and her daughter Sara are heading to Uganda to the teacher’s building accommodation at Ongoromo School. The money raised will go towards the building of a new school.

Leader Jonathan Gault explained: “A team of people are going on September 11 as part of ‘Go Uganda’ and they are all organising their own fundraising events. Sandra and Sarah have done extremely well to raise £2,230.”

Appealing for help, Jonathan added: “If anyone has any old football shirts, no matter what team, we would love to have them. Also we are appealing for old large suitcases with wheels that no one wants. The airline is kindly allowing us extra luggage so we can take more goods with us. If you have either, please drop them off at Gaults Shop on Church Street. Your help is very much appreciated.”
