Three in a row for strongman Colin

The mighty Ballymoney man Colin McCrellis has lifted his third title in the 2012 90kg Northern Ireland strongest man Championship!

Saturday 12 May saw the 2012 Northern Ireland’s Strongest man contest at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre.

Eight of the toughest strongmen came together after months of training to do battle for the title and to qualify for the ‘All Ireland’ final. Dead-lift for max - Giant Dumbbell press - Hyper Yoke (290kg) - 375KG Tyre flip (8 flips) - loading race and the Giant Girder walk faced all eight men!

The contest was incredibly close on points and Colin McCrellis had to dig deep to retain the title!

This year’s contest was the heaviest and hardest yet and the main hall was filled with strongman fans and families of the competitors making a fantastic day. Colin was the only man to finish the final and most harrowing event - the girder walk’(270kg frame carried over 20 metre course.)

This confirmed his win & delighted the huge home crowd.

Event organiser Dave Warner (Renegade Strongman) said: “To win something like this once is amazing, twice incredible - three times is beyond belief. The event is one of the most exciting days out on the Ballymoney calendar and getting bigger and better every year.”

The top 5 earn a place in the ‘All Ireland Under 90kg’ section. 1st Colin McCrellis, 2nd Micheal McPolin, 3rd Oliver Cummings, 4th Denver McGuikan, 5th Wallace Clark.
