Springwell Juniors in Irish X-Country action

A team of Springwell Junior athletes, along with their coaches, Philip Tweedie and Ali Bratten attended the GloHealth Irish Even XC Championships in sunny Dublin where some great and gutsy performances took place.

Along with some terrific individual performances from our Junior Boy and Girl athletes, the U18 Girls team secured a fantastic 4th place overall in their Age Group.

Full Springwell results as follows:

Jack Culbertson (U14 Boys) 27th out of 153 finishers, Niamh Carr (U16 Girls) 11th out of 114 finishers and Andrew Gordon (U16 Boys) 16th out of 142 finishers

U18 Girls team: 4th Overall - 29th Hermione Skuce, 42nd Molly Brennan, 46th Aine McKinney and 62nd Rebekah Hunter

PORTRUSH PARKRUN

As well as the usual visitors from throughout the UK , there were two European visitors, with runners from Brittainy and the Czech Republic.

Catherine Myer was congratulated on being the latest Portrush runner to complete 50 parkruns. It was also the monthly pacing event with 25 mins, 26 mins and 29 mins being the times paced.

This week there were 89 runners, of whom 8 were first timers and 6 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 6 different athletics clubs took part.

First finisher was French runner Antoine Le Corre in 18.46 and first lady was Samantha Linton in 24.34
