SPRINGWELL Running Club have announced details of the forthcoming Festival in Dervock which takes place this year on July 19 and 20.
The event held in conjunction with Dervock and District Community Association will feature a host of fun and games with the half marathon and 10k run the main features.
Officials from Springwell are appealing for volunteers to offer the same time and commitment given at last year’s festival.
They are looking for dedicated volunteers to manage litter pick-up, marshalling, traffic management and water stops for the running festival.
Due to the scheduled work on the new community hall which has ruled out use of the changing room facilities and football pitches, all events will take place this year at the William Pinkerton Memorial Primary School and the Riverside Park.
If anyone can volunteer for the events they should contact the Community House on 02820742568 or mobile 07734888600 or by speaking personally to any member of the Community Association.
Other events taking place include a pet show, Bann Wheelers bike race, barbecue, Ulster Scots performers, Irish dancers, Chinese performers and falconry display.
There will also be five-a-side football, face painting, car boot sale, bouncy castles, duck race, Dervock Young Defenders Flute Band, Articlave Flute Band, Border Reivers (Re-enactment group), Rising Stour (Ulster Scots Folk Group), Storytelling, Ulster Scots cookery demonstration and North Antrim Flying Club.
Much work is being done in Dervock at present for the community at large and the main message from the organisers of the Festival is ‘Let’s bring back the community spirit into the village.’
