THE 18 hole weekend sweep at the Brown Trout played over two days was a low scoring event with only two players playing better than their handicap allowance. The clear winner by two points was club secretary Robert Orr (10) , after getting off to a good start with a birdie at the opening hole completing the first nine in two over par worth 21 points.
Robert added 18 points over the back nine helped by another birdie at the 13th. Ronnie Milliken (4) took the runner/up prize with nines of 18 and 19 for 37. Highlights of Ronnie’s round were birdies at holes 2 and 12. Four other members ended up with 36 points and after the enforcement of the tiebreak. Mark Dempsey (16) with nines of 17 & 19 took the third prize on offer.
Losing out on count back were Tom Boyd 18 & 18,Trevor Cupples 19 & 17, and David Wilson 22 & 14. Twos kitty was shared by J. Montgomery D. Wilson R. Orr and R. Milliken.
Next weekend will see the start of the Summer cup competitions when the McBride Cup will be up for grabs. Good scoring is expected with a lot of players reverting back to their handicaps which were frozen over the winter league and the period since the league finished.
