BALLYMONEY Sports Development Unit will be hosting a presentation evening on Thursday 11th April at 7pm – 8pm in the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre by a national UK Charity called Sported.
Sported is a 2012 legacy, UK wide organisation, and their mission is to build the capacity of sport for development organisations, working to change young lives through sport.
They do this through their capacity building volunteer mentor support and funding opportunities.
They support organisations who are using sport for development of young people (11-25 year olds), whose outcomes would include: building strong communities; inclusion; reducing crime and anti-social behaviour; developing confidence and life skills and education in health and wellbeing. They opened for membership in Northern Ireland in Mid- March 2012 already have 140 members across Northern Ireland, with the number continuing to grow.
Sported. membership in Northern Ireland is comprised or a range of organisations (sports clubs, community groups, youth groups) who are using sport for development working with 11-25 year to achieve at least one of our sport for development outcomes:
* Building Stronger Communities
* Reducing Crime and Anti-social Behaviour
* Developing young people by providing them with skills for the workplace and life
* Providing Education in Health and well-being
* Removing barriers to regular participation in sport for marginalised groups
N.I Manager Brenda Kelly would welcome the opportunity to meet with all groups and discuss their work and the ways in which groups in Ballymoney might be able to access their grant funding and support.
