Now the Manx are coming here!

FOR years the best sporting talent from Ballymoney - in the shape of the Dunlop motorbike men - has been performing well on the Isle of Man at the world famous TT but now it is time for Manx sportsmen to come to north Antrim to show us what they’ve got.

A boxing team from the Isle of Man will be in Ballymoney on Friday March 8 to take on a squad being put together by the local Scorpion club as part of the ‘twinning’ arrangement between Ballymoney Borough Council and the island.

The venue is the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre with doors opening at 7.30pm. The Scorpion Boxing Club will celebrate 30 years in the sport by organising, in association with the Town Twinning Association, a Gala Night of Boxing with County Antrim’s finest taking on an Elite team from the Isle of Man.

There will be twelve matches on display and it promises to be a brilliant night’s boxing. The organisers are urging everyone to come along and be part of it.

County Antrim boxing is very strong at the moment with recent success both at amateur and professional level and the Scorpion Club are hope Carl Frampton will be coming along to show his support on the night as well.

The bill will consist of English ABA Champions and there will a Commonwealth Games medallist, Ulster Champions and of course Ballymoney’s recently crowned Irish Champion Karol Dlugosz.

The price at the door is £7 with young children £3.50. Everyone welcome.
