Stuarty Laverty from Ballymoney Cycling Club maintained his fine form on Wednesday evening’s Northern Region Interclub League race in Dervock taking both intermediate sprints and the overall victory to assert his authority on the Verge Sport Sprint competition.

The 30 mile race for cat 3, 4 and club riders took place on a flat but technical circuit in ideal conditions.

The field of 45 riders stayed together with any attempts to breakaway quickly brought back. Laverty outpaced Nigel Bradley (Northwest Cycling Club) at both intermediate sprints and again crucially took the chequered flag out-sprinting a well organised Northwest lead out train at the line.

Northwest return to the top of the league standings just ahead of Bann Wheelers with Ballymoney in third. The league continues with round 5 next week with at iconic Giants Causeway circuit.
