On Saturday 3rd March Ballymoney travelled to Antrim to play Randalstown, however a slow start from the Toon caught them off guard and conceded a goal in the first ten minutes.
Ballymoney settled into a good rhythm and put the pressure on the Randalstown defence and were unlucky not to level the score early on with good chances from Karen Watson, Nicola Seargent, and Cara Ferguson.
Randalstown continued to put on a strong press but great saves from Lauren Marshall and a strong defence of Lesley Davis, Clare Black, Becky Greer and Jill Black kept them ahead only by 1. Some great play between Laura McCurdy, Jessica Moore, and Sara Gardner in midfield allowed Alex Halliday to get into a good position and put the ball into the back of the net, levelling the score. After half time Ballymoney started well and maintained the pressure on Randalstown, however a break in play led to a string of penalty corners which the defence continually cleared off the line. A controversial penalty stroke was awarded to Randalstown, but with an outstanding save from Lauren they were once again denied a goal with minutes to go. The score remained 1-1 at full time. The team would like to thank Rob for umpiring and to those who came to support. Ballymoney 2nd Xi welcome support to their plate match at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre on Saturday 10th February.
