Now in its fourth year, the Giant’s Causeway Coast Sportive, in association with Chain Reaction Cycles Flagship Store Belfast, is again set to make its way to the North Coast and Glens of Antrim area on Saturday 13th September.

With 1000+ cyclists taking part from all over NI, ROI and GB, this event has become a key event in the cycling calendar as well as for driving tourism in the area.

Last year the sportive generated just under £169k for the local economy and this year it is predicted to bring in £215k in economic benefit through various spend including food, drink, transport and accommodation.

On the day, the riders will all start and finish in Ballycastle and they will also get to explore the Causeway Coast and Glens of Antrim area on one of three cycling routes. Route distances that participants can choose from are 35miles, 80miles or 115miles.

Event Organiser, Beverley Pierson, is pleased to see the event grow year on year and explains what she thinks the key ingredients are for this to happen, “It’s great to see the event go from strength to strength, last years event even won Cycling Ireland’s Best Leisure Event. The factors that make this happen I believe are the choice of routes that suit all abilities seconded with the spectacular scenery in this area”.

Moyle District Council fully support and fund the event as they believe it significantly increases tourism in the area especially in the quieter period after the summer.

All routes will start from the sea front in Ballycastle and for more details on what roads they follow please visit the event website at www.giantscausewaycoastsportive.com
