Despite the Tri Nations series being wrapped up last weekend, there’s no time to rest for Ballymoney hockey star Katie Mullan.
Following a successful fortnight playing against France and former Olympic champions Spain, Katie and her team mates are thrown into and intense period of preparation for the Olympic qualification tournament which will take place in March.
“Following the Tri Nations we are on a physical training block until the middle of September,” explained Katie.
“That involves self driven training running and gym sessions with time away from the hockey pitch.
“Then at the end of September we begin a intense training block which follows right through to World League 2 which is our first Olympic qualification tournament.
“This training block includes test matches in October, November and a warm weather camp in January.”
