DALRIADA School has achieved success at a swimming gala.
The school had several pupils involved in the Minor School Swimming Gala - Cara Telfer, Imogen Thompson, Olivia Mullen, Luke Clements, Peter Wright, Anna Wright and Claire Morrison.
Cara Telfer swam first and qualified for the Backstroke final with an IMS qualifying time Luke Clements and Peter Wright both swam well in the backstroke heats finishing 13th & 18th respectively.
Imogen Thompson finished 14th out of 28 in the Breatstroke while Olivia Mullen qualified 4th for the final with an IMS time and then came a creditable fourth in the final. Olivia also qualified for the Butterfly final with an IMS time and finished 6th overall.
Luke, Peter and Imogen competed in the freestyle event where Imogen just missed out on an IMS time and place in the final finishing 7th; Luke and Peter also competed well but missed the final.
Finally Cara swam in the Individual Medley (IM event) which was Heat Declared Win meaning there no final or medals were awarded according to heat times. Cara swam very well in a closely contested race to win Gold by only 0.21sec. Dalriada School has an Ulster Champion.
The final session got under way with Claire Morrison in the backstroke where she came 11th.
Anna Wright swam the Breastroke and narrowly missed a final place by 0.28sec finishing 8th - both swam well.
The final swim of the day was Claire in the Butterfly where she swam into 4th place in the final. This group are not eligible to enter the Irish Minor School’s Gala.
In summary Dalriada walked away with one Gold Medal, one Silver Medal and six Finals places.
Cara Telfer and Olivia Mullan will be going to the Irish Minor Schools Gala in Galway on March 10. Good luck to them!
