Dalraida compete in junior hockey games

Early on Saturday 9th Februrary 2013, Dalriada U13A’s played against Larne at The Joey Dunlop Centre, Ballymoney. Dalriada won 2-0. Jill Leslie, centre mid-field, scored the first goal after a pentalty corner. Carrie White, left wing, scored the second goal.

On Monday 4th of February, Dalriada under 13 B’s hockey team played away against Limavady Grammar. After a closely fought match, Limavady claimed victory in the final three minutes by scoring the only goal. The final score was 1-0 to Limavady Grammar.

Despite the cold weather, it was an exciting game, with both teams having several unsuccessful shots at goal. A Limavady Grammar midfielder scored the goal that won the match.

Dalriada’s player of the match was Nadine Robinson (left back) who defended extremely well throughout the game. Players from both teams played very well.

On Saturday 9th February, the U13B hockey team lost against Larne 1-0. It was a well fought game, the second half was definitely a good comeback, even though no one scored. Leah Glass, the Right Midfield player, was player of the match. She played excellently, getting the ball and passing to Rebecca Bingham Right Forward, who then got the ball into the circle. Emily Walsh, Center Forward, also played very well. She was always trying to score when the ball was near the goal. The team came very close to scoring a couple of times, but the Larne goalkeeper saved them.

Dalriada U15’s played away against Larne Grammar and were successful with a score of 1-0. An impressive goal from Megan Barr (centre midfield) half way through the second half with a good run up the right wing from Rachael Kennedy (right midfield) for Megan to send Dalriada 1-0 up. Also good defending from Chelsie McKendry (sweeper) and Rachael Taggart (left back).
