The game started strongly with Coleraine applying pressure from the first whistle.

Both sides were fighting for that first goal opportunity and with some slick passes in midfield from Sue Nutt, Helen Tweedie and Kelly Watt, Alice McGill was provided with an excellent opportunity and hammered the ball into goal putting Coleraine in the lead.

Coleraine were looking for that second goal and with some superb stick work and fast paced runs down the left side from Kitty Dickson and Susan Chapman, Kitty spotted an opportunity and found Kelly lurking in the circle.

Kelly did not mess about and made it 2-0 to Coleraine.

After a comprehensive and encouraging team talk provided by Stephen McCartney and Philip Tweedie, the Coleraine team approached the second half with more determination and a focused attitude to the remainder of the game.

But following the restart Coleraine were subject to a range of impressive attack attempts by Saintfield which resulted in a few short corners against the visitors.

However, this proved no trouble for Coleraine with some excellent tackles and fantastic defending from Milenka Ryglieska, Becky Lockhart and Sharon, as well as some outstanding saves from keeper Rebecca Crowe, Coleraine maintained their clean sheet.

The game continued with some skilful play down both sides of the pitch by Caroline McNickle and Grace Bradley.

Both teams were finding it difficult to break the others’ line of defence. However, a well worked ball from the back found Grace at the halfway line who took the ball with her and slipped easily through the Saintfield defence, smashing the ball into the goal, bringing the score to 3-0.

For the remainder of the game, the team held tight to the ball, demonstrating some excellent movement and fantastic defending until the final whistle.

Coleraine would like to thank the umpires, coaches and supporters for giving up their time to support and would also like to thank Philip Tweedie for driving the minibus to the game.

Player of the match this week was Becky Lockhart.
