Belfast and Ballybrakes Bowls Clubs will go head-to-head early next month with the AIIB Inter-Stadium championship up for grabs.

Only one point separates the teams ahead of final match of the campaign at the Watson Stadium on December 6.

The Ballybrakes boys are in pole position, having racked up an impressive 47 shots win over County Antrim in their opening game at Parkgate.

Rinks wins by Barry Kane, Ian McClure, Gary Kelly and Gary McCloy, earned the visitors a full quota of seven points.

The agony continued for County Antrim at the Watson Stadium on Saturday.

Their flickering hopes of retaining the title they won so impressively last season were well and truly shattered following a 22 shots defeat.

They did have the consolation of picking up their one and only point from the Series, courtesy off Alistair Coleman’s 16-9 win over Stuart Bennett.

But Belfast roared home on the other thee rinks. Skipper Clifford Craig led by example by chalking up a 20-6 win against James Caldwell, while Mike Merritt and Simon Martin completed the job with victories against Graham McKee (21-15) and Michael Nutt (22-13).
