Ballymoney II play Ards in a tight game

Ballymoney II played Ards II in a tight game on Saturday, but sadly the final score ended with Ards winning 4-2.

Ballymoney started well in the first half with the forwards having many chances on goal.  Ards pressed the defence but Ballymoney’s Katie Steele and Ruth Sutherland did well to hold them off.

Ards broke through to score but Ballymoney fought back with good passing giving the forwards yet more chances.  This paid off with Ballymoney winning a short corner which Ruth Sutherland superbly struck into the bottom corner.

Unfortunately Ards scored again but Ballymoney was not going down with out a fight. Katherine Gawne was played through into the circle from a pass down the line,her shot was saved by the keeper, but Olivia Linton did brilliantly to follow it up and brought Ballymoney back into the game.

Just before half time Ards fought hard to get through Ballymoneys strong defence and scored. Half time

In the second half Ballymoney picked up the pace and battled hard with the forwards Katherine Gawne, Olivia Linton and Kathryn Knipe getting many chances on goal but the Ards keeper did very well to keep them out.

Ballymoney dominated the second half but just couldn’t convert and Ards took their chance and scored with 5 mins to go leaving the final score as 4-2.

Ballymoney II will be determined to get the result they deserve next week
