Ballymoney hit on the counterattack by ace Lurgan

Ballymoney II wanted to continue their winning form from 2014 with a win over Lurgan.

The match started with both teams playing some beautiful hockey, Emma Patton was unlucky not to put Ballymoney ahead in the opening minutes only to see her shot fly narrowly wide of the post.

Lurgan responded immediately and put ‘Money defence until some pressure. Both teams fought hard to gain control of the game,

Suzannah Brown was instrumental in midfield for Ballymoney showing great strength and skill . Five minutes before half time Lurgan punished Ballymoney for not clearing their lines.

Ballymoney responded well to the team talk at half time they immediately came out in second half within minutes Emma Patton calmly slotted the ball past the keeper from a lovely pass from Olivia Linton.

Ballymoney continued piling the pressure on the Lurgan defence but were caught exposed in defence resulting in a goal for Lurgan.

Ruth Sutherland controlled the game in defence for Ballymoney and set the team on several attacks looking for an equaliser, however tired legs and lack of concentration allowed Lurgan to add a further two goals to the score line .

Ballymoney worked tirelessly throughout the game and result did not reflect how the team played..Thanks to Ivan for umpiring and all supporters who cheered the girls on .

This week Ballymoney II travel to Civil Service in the next round of the McConnell Shield .
