Money Seconds enjoy win over Harlequins

Ballymoney Second XI took on Belfast Harlequins at home on Saturday 6th February, the final score was 4-1 to Ballymoney.

Ballymoney started well against a strong Harlequin team and after a super run up the left by midfielder Sarah Holden, the ball was picked up at the top of the circle by forward Emma McElwee and with one touch the ball was in the back of the net after a great strike.

This boosted Ballymoney and there were several more attacks in the first half from Aly Greer and Sara Jamison however none of them were converted to give the 2-0 lead.

Just before half time, Harlequins broke from high up the pitch leaving a three against one at the back, and after skilful passing they scored to leave it 1-1 at half time.

In the second half, Ballymoney got a second goal from Alyson Greer, when midfielder Sara Jamison won the ball back in the centre of the pitch and after a great run up the right from Jill Halliday the first shot was saved by the keeper and with a scrap on the goal line Alyson got the last touch which put it into the back of the goal.

The third goal came from good work in defence by right back Clare Parkhill who got the ball to Sarah Holden who crossed it into the circle where Aimee McCaw slotted it into the net.

The Harlequins were not for giving up, they contained to make some good attacks and had a few one of ones with the Ballymoney keeper Meghan Doey, but great goalkeeping kept them out. Ballymoney kept fighting until the very end and were rewarded with a late goal from Emma McElwee.
