Milwaukee Yamaha has this week confirmed that local rider William Dunlop will contest this month’s Armoy Road Races.
William confirmed his intentions to compete on a recent trip to Rathlin Island with Armoy Clerk of the Course Bill Kennedy and his cousins Paul Robinson and Sam Dunlop.
Commenting on the news, Bill Kennedy, Clerk of the Course, said, “William has been a great supporter of the Armoy Road Races having competed just about every year. The trip to Rathlin was a great opportunity for me to catch up with William and it was great to see him in fine form.
“No bikes are allowed on Rathlin so we had to get special permission but travelling across on the Rathlin Ferry was a great way to be able to see another part of our beautiful country – the pictures speak for themselves.”
William said, “I’m delighted to back at Armoy this year. It’s my local road racing course so it holds that something special for me plus it’s a great circuit.
Cousins Paul Robinson and Sam Dunlop who enjoyed the day out to Rathlin will also be entering the Armoy Road Races.
Sam Dunlop will be competing in the 125cc race, said, “Having started studying law and accounting at university this year road racing has taken a bit of back seat however I won’t be missing the Armoy that’s for sure.
“It is one of those races I just won’t miss no matter what. As for my visit to Rathlin, well it’s a beautiful part of the world there’s no doubt about that but I would’ve like to have seen the inside of the bar. Big Bill Kennedy was having none of it. We did make it back to one of those fine establishments in Ballycastle though.
“I’ve a lot of time for the Armoy Club; they’ve managed to achieve a great wee race in no time at all and I’ll be seeing them all on the 26th and 27th.
