Dalriada 1XI came up against Antrim Grammar at the Joey Dunlop Centre and despite the wintery conditions the Dalriada girls came out fighting.

Brilliant transfers from defenders Rachel Taggart and Natalia Rygielska allowed Olivia Mullan and Jill Leslie to make a few promising runs into the Antrim circle. However after a first half dominated by Dalriada the score remained 0-0 at half time. After half time Dalriada came out fighting once more with spectacular runs from Claire Finnerty and Elle Kirgan resulting in an opportunity for Laura Finnerty to pop the ball past the keeper putting Dalriada 1-0 up. Excellent defensive work from Milenka Rygielska and Tara McConaghie ensured that Dalriada remained in the lead. In the last ten minutes Rachael Kennedy and Sara Jamison worked hard in mid field to keep the pressure on Antrim until the final whistle blew securing Dalriada a well-deserved victory.

Dalriada’s 2XI were all set for a tough battle against a strong Antrim Grammar. Both teams were forced to cope with bad weather conditions, of strong winds and rain but both teams continued to fight through both halves of the game resulting in a draw of 0-0.

Throughout the first half Dalriada played well with the strong defence playing excellent, with great tackles made from, Rebecca Macabe, Lucy Buick and Rachel Wilson. Going into the second half of the game Dalriada had a good few chances on goal with, Lauren Mitchell narrowly missing.

The Midfielders continued to work hard throughout sending continuous balls through to the forwards. The goalie, Jill Huey made some excellent saves, not even letting one ball pass, with a little help from Rebecca Macabe who made an outstanding clearance of the ball resulting in Antrim Grammar narrowly missing a goal. Everyone played really well but player of the match would have to go to Lucy Buick!
