The prolific front man, who has been at Portadown for the past three-and-a-half years, has signed a one-year deal with the option of a second.

Kearney believes the Glaswegian, who starred under Michael O’Neill during his time at Shamrock Rovers, will bring even more goals to the side.

“Gary’s record speaks for itself, he has scored goals wherever he has played,” he said.

“Last season our defensive record was up there with the rest of the top six but we were about 15-20 goals behind the other teams in goals scored.

“Gary has the quality for us to close that gap. He is a goal scorer, who has the knack of being in the right place at the right time to grab a goal.

“His experience will be invaluable to our young players too, the likes of Brad Lyons, Jamie McGonigle, Rodney Brown and James McLaughlin will learn so much from Gary.

“All in all Gary’s a great addition to our squad.”
